About
Barbara Sullivan, KWS, works in watercolor and mixed media on paper. Her brightly colored landscape paintings are based on places she has visited in the United States, Mexico, Europe and the Caribbean. With great attention to detail, she strives to create works that intrigue the viewer and give a sense of time of place.
Barb has exhibited and sold her work in competitions, art fairs and festivals, and galleries in the Midwest. She had two paintings selected for the 2026 National Watercolor Exhibition and another painting iselected for The Drift exhibit at Ripple Artspace.
In 1997, her watercolor The Admiral’s Inn, Antigua, was selected for the Watercolor USA national competitive exhibition and received a Dunnegan Gallery of Art Purchase Award. In 1998, Barb had a one-person show at the Birger-Sandzen Gallery in Lindsborg, Kansas, as well as a one-person show at Gallery 9 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Barb’s work is included in numerous private and corporate collections, including the Dunnegan Gallery of Art, Bolivar, Missouri; the Mulvane Art Museum, Washburn University, Topeka, Kansas; the Salina Arts & Humanities Commission, Salina, Kansas; Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Lincoln Nebraska; and Havelock Bank, Lincoln Nebraska.
A Nebraska native working in Lincoln, Nebraska and Dodgeville, Wisconsin, Barb is a member of Ripple Artspace in Platteville, Wisconsin and Gallery 9 Cooperative Gallery in Lincoln, Nebraska. She is a Signature Member of the Kansas Watercolor Society and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Arts in Education with a Museum Education Emphasis from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She is currently the Assistant Program Director at Adamah Art Studios in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.
